You can remove one puzzle piece from the rectangular frame and still form a rectangle of the same area with the remaining pieces. Additionally, it's possible to remove not just one piece, but also a second or even a third piece while still being able to reassemble the puzzle into a rectangle.

Even after removing the pieces, the total surface area of the block puzzle remains unchanged, and it fits perfectly back into the original wooden frame.

Of course, the opposite is also true. This means that even if you add three pieces to the puzzle, the area does not change.
